After Your LASIK Your eyes will feel scratchy, and you will have burning and watering when the numbing drops wear off after LASIK. In order to make you feel most comfortable and speed up recovery, please adhere to the following instructions: 1. Wear sunglasses provided on the way home and keep your eyes closed. 2. Sedative – Take as soon as you get home. A 4 – 6 hour nap is required. 3. Lubricating Tear Drops – Use these drops every hour after your nap until finished. Thereafter, please purchase regular over the counter lubricating drops. (Refresh, Tears Naturale or other. They need not be preservative free). Use these drops 4 times a day for one month after LASIK. 4. Antibiotic drops – Use 4 times a day for 4 days starting the day of LASIK. If drops are finished, you do not need a refill. 5. Steroid drops – Use 4 times a day for 4 days starting the day of LASIK. If drops are finished, you do not need a refill. Allow 15 minutes between antibiotic and steroid drops. 6. Clear Plastic Goggles – Sleep in these for 5 – 6 days. Side pieces are adjustable. 7. No mascara, eyeliner, or eye shadow for one week. 8. Do not rub your eyes. Should you rub your eyes accidentally, return immediately for a flap check – especially if the vision is blurry or the eye is red or uncomfortable. 9. Please ask the doctor about limitations of activities. 10. Avoid hot tubs, whirlpools, and swimming pools for 2 weeks. Showers are permitted, dab eyes gently to dry without rubbing. 11. Ensure that you keep follow-up exams as instructed.
